Coronatree

"During the first Corona lockdown (March-April 2020) many of us were experiencing a completely new situation. Uncertainty and fear were spreading. I wanted to send a sign of encouragement as an artist and decided to paint the Friedenseiche (Imperial Oak Tree) in Berlin-Friedenau on six Saturdays in a row. For many decades this oak tree has stood in the middle of a busy intersection and despite all changes around it it peacefully stretches its branches towards the sky. I and my friend Judith stood on the street with our easel and we painted together while having a lot of fun. At first the tree was bare but the leaves started growing as the weather became warmer. For all of the six images we beforehand chose specific tools and materials which had an impact on the design of each paintings."
